For The First Time

For The First Time

It’s not the first time the prompt has left me staring blankly at the screen. Vigor? Nope, got none. What do I have? Nothing. I have nothing to give, nothing to share. I am an empty shell, a husk, a pod. The pod person left, taking … everything.

Maybe it’s the wine talking. Did I have a drink tonight? No one knows, no one cares. When you’re alone, you’re the only one who can testify. And you know you’re a liar. Just one drink was it? Yeah I’ll believe you.

Turn out the lights
You’re better in the dark
Pretend you’re not you
I’m gonna leave a mark

You’ll know where I’ve been
From the trail I leave behind
My filthy little toy
Remember that you’re mine

I can give you vigor
Leave you bleeding on the floor
I love it when you scratch
Keep me coming back for more
